Why Walking Together Changes Everything

This week, I’m lacing up my sneakers not just for myself, but for us. I’m hosting my very first Strut & Stroll walk—and I am so excited!

Walking has always been one of my favorite ways to move. It’s simple, accessible, and works for people of all ages, ethnicities, and sizes. But something powerful happens when we walk together.

Here’s why community walking shifts everything:

Accountability Becomes Easier

It’s one thing to promise yourself you’ll go for a walk. It’s another thing when you know other people are showing up, waiting for you, cheering you on. Accountability turns “maybe” into “yes.”

It Feeds Your Soul, Not Just Your Steps

Walking solo clears your head. Walking in community fills your spirit. The conversations, laughter, and shared silence remind you—you’re not on this journey alone.

Every Step Becomes a Celebration

It’s not about speed, distance, or perfection. Every step is a reminder: I’m showing up for me. When we do that together, it feels like a celebration of strength, resilience, and community.

Final Word

This first Strut & Stroll walk is more than just an event—it’s the start of something bigger. It’s a community of people choosing to prioritize themselves, one step at a time.

So if you’ve been waiting for the “perfect time” to start walking, let this be your sign. Grab your sneakers, bring your energy, and let’s strut together. 👟

Meet me at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach, VA on 9/21/25 at 8am. We’ll meet at the stairs by 7:55 AM to warm up. We’ll walk, cool down, and take a group picture. See you soon! 🩷🩵
